They might all appeared to be different, yes. Yet the portraits are the representation of the same photograph at different times. The painting of  sitter becomes a product, but unlike what Warhol did to the portrait of Marilyn, this this images are different every time and they  are painterly. In this sense what becomes a product of mass consumption is not the sitter himself, but the painting. Today, well into the 21th century painting is not longer a mystify object, on the contrary it is mundane and nothing extraordinary. 

Nohelia Vargas Bolivar is a Venezuelan artist based in Houston. Her work combines painting, sculpture, and animation. She earned her BFA from the University of Houston with an Area of concentration in Painting and Art History, and a MFA from Tufts University. Vargas currently works as a docent at the Blaffer Art Museum, and as an adjunct professor at University of Houston Clear Lake and  Art League. 
Her most recent projects included: The Tree of the Common Self, a collective drawing which is currently displayed at the Blaffer Art Museum. As well as the Goguen Genesis project, an NFT series of 1000 tokens commissioned by IOHK.

However, for the most part my work attempts to deconstruct the concept of humanhood; reimagining humans as beautiful living creatures capable of dreaming, creating and loving, and some other times as terrifying beings whose  actions corrode their own existence and the planet.

 -Genesis- is an attempt to illustrate a satire about the destiny of humanity. Following the rise of civilization and arriving to contemporary capitalist modes of production and consumption is a kind of apocalyptic moment in humankind. At the same time, I intended the animation to be a commentary on the increment in recent years of the over-diagnosis of mental health conditions, and the widespread use of prescription drugs, especially the kind of psychotropics given to people diagnosed with ADHD, which I believe is not a negative mental condition at all. There are "sight effects" from looking at the world from the lenses we were conditioned to have by this society, and whether good or bad we can not escape the spectacle  (100% handmade stop motion animation)

Genesis

Humanos (NFTs series ) were made from handmade drawing/stop-motion animation. The animation was created during the time I lived in Boston. I like to think of B-town as a place where I found myself. Getting lost in the city, biking in the snow, experiencing the seasons like never before, undergoing various harsh circumstances at the same time I forged some of the most beautiful friendships with people I felt deeply inspired by.
Humanos is a reminiscence of my Boston experiences, but also the depiction of what it is to be a human in the world, a human that dreamt to be an artist.
