The first six pieces served as an introduction to man. They are digital collages of backlit and photographed silk screens combined with a velvet zoo poster and a portrait circa 1920. These components start to form the moods of Shadow of a Man.

The final physical artwork is a triptych of Red, Yellow, and Green. They share the same materials in a frenetic dance of thirds. Different aspects of identity and awareness are pulled out from the chaos. Focus and clarity are hard to maintain; instead, the man chooses to rest within multiple potentials.



As an artist, I embrace the concept of "baser matter" as the fundamental and essential elements that define the core essence of each work.

Once found baser matter represents a material to be explored and played with, where unexpected and emergent phenomena can arise, take shape, and transform.

Baser matter as an idea allows me to stay connected to my raw and primal reactions to the work while maintaining focus on the core essence.

Through dynamic collage techniques, Currier-Groh captures moments of emotional intensity and natural resilience, inviting viewers to pause and consider the hidden patterns and feelings that emerge from this vibrant terrain.
