Julia Verne’s comments: So, Sei made this in a flurry of activity in one day (he pumped out three Artworks in that same 24-hour span). The base generative piece was just one of many he remixed (then, spent hours rendering…) in a hypomanic, psychotic state. I picked out one I like—which was originally a bunch of green glowing monkeys—and set to work painstakingly colour correcting. The result is this: something worthy of Windows XP. Violet started using this as her wallpaper—she received compliments from her family about it, too. It was really nice to see.
Sei’s comments: Julia Verne did, I would say, 67% of the work. Getting the deep ocean waves *juust right* was her part. I worked on the tourmaline crystal bars. It was pretty easy, I actually feel bad for her. I took the easiest part of the colour correcting. There’s some other stuff we did here, involving level correction, Multiply layers, masks and reducing opacities… Did this whilst our computer was rendering the rest of the images so using the airbrush was ass. But yeah! I really like how it turned out.
P.S.: The reason we made this was because we read a Tweet from the Windows Aesthetic Twitter account confirming that Greg Melander was the who created “Crystal” on XP. That’s literally the only reason we made this. Lol.
